Resident Artist (Violin) and Conductor
Kathleen Jara is a resident artist in violin and a conductor at the Bernstein Orchestra, the co-director of El Sistema at Conservatory Lab Charter School (Boston), and a graduate of The Boston Conservatory, where she studied with Sharan Leventhal. Her teachers include Vasile Beluska, Steven Cornelius, and Russell Schmidt, and she has performed for Midori and Regina Carter. As a professional, she has worked in performance and music education in Tacna, Peru, where she created and ran an orchestra program for low-income students at the Jesuit school “Miguel Pro,” founded in a Habitat for Humanity community.
